Had a lovely break even the weather was relatively kind. Lovely place to stay, great hosts, very helpful and accommodating. Even saw the Vicar off the Dales!! Fond memories of Askrigg.

Hi,
Just a quick note so say thanks very much for your hospitality last weekend. Sykes House was a perfect base for our mountain biking weekend. Fantastic breakfasts and tasty sandwiches for lunch were perfect to keep us going through the balmy (not!) June summer days. Also ideal to have the covered yard to be able to securely store the bikes and dry off wet kit. Thanks again. We’ll be back. Next time with wet-suits!
Best regards

Timo and his bunch

Although we stayed just for two days, the received impression was overwhelming to us.
Looks like the Sykes house fits almost perfect into Asskrigg – great and charming rooms, original yorkshire breakfast, kindly people everywhere  . All this right next to the Skeldale house, the St. Oswald church and those amazing dales. Looks like a childhood dream came at least true to me.
Hopefully I can dream this one again sometime next year!

Thanks for the very warm hospitality, and we’re sorry we had to cut short our stay by one night. The room was well-presented and the breakfast was great. Askrigg and Wensleydale are very pretty, as is nearby Swaledale. In Askrigg, we’d recommend the food in the White Rose Hotel, but the Kings Arms was nicest for a drink. Can’t vouch for the food there, but it looked nice!

Julia and David Mulchinoc…

Well, what can we say about our wonderful weekend stay at the amazing Sykes House.  Firstly, we have to say that the welcome was beyond belief……so incredibly friendly and truly helpful in ALL aspects – too many to mention!!  We were made to feel at home, in their home, from the first minute of meeting.  absolutely nothing was too much trouble.  The breakfasts were “to die for”.  The best English breakfast we have ever had in our entire lives!! Our room was beautiful and so, so comfortable.  Askrigg is a treasure….  We highly recommend Sykes House to everyone.  We will be back.  So many thanks…we could go on and on….

I am very happy to find this web page. My first visit to the UK was in March-April of 2009 and I fell in love with Askrigg. My lovely tea and talk remains a favorite memory, but I couldn’t remember the exact story about the hatch. Now I am writing a book about my travels and this will be a wonderful tidbit.
Also, I wasn’t aware you were a B&B. The tearoom is precious and I was eating (I really concentrate on this) & reading materials. Outside, it was raining very hard and I must have kept my head down–what a shame. Travelers, do not put your head down in the rain. You never know what you will miss! I look forward to coming back and seeing your rooms. P.S. Don’t forget to see Bolton and the castle–a must.

Mike and Ann Fleet

We have just returned from a 5 night stay and have thoroughly enjoyed it and would like the visitors to this guest book to know what a fantastic stay we had. both made us feel very welcome and the accommodation was both homely and very comfortable. The breakfasts were delicious, and the village of Askrigg where Sykes house is situated is an ideal base to discover the delights of the Yorkshire dales. We would not hesitate to recommend a stay at Sykes house, and will certainly be returning ourselves in the future.

We would just like to say how much we enjoyed our stay with you in our lovely memorable village. We enjoyed reliving my childhood memories and staying in the old Temperence Hotel. As Sykes House it is a most comfortable place to be and the food you cooked for us was really delicious. We shall recommend you and your lovely home to friends and family.
Thankyou both for all your help and your lovely hospitality. It really was like coming home.
Regards Brenda and Ken .

Just returned from our second visit to Sykes House where we found the accommodation superb (we have now stayed in both rooms and  both are very comfortable and spacious). We had a lovely welcome on both occasions.  We feel we have found a little gem in Askrigg – it is the perfect location to base yourself while exploring the Dales. We did some wonderful walks in Wensleydale & Swaledale. The breakfasts and cream teas went down a treat in the tearoom – keep up the good work – we’ll be back!!!!!!!

Terry and Pauline Healey

Just spent 3 wonderful days in the Yorkshire Dales staying at Sykes House, we were warmly welcomed, the room was beautifully presented and very comfortable.
The breakfast were a very varied menu and wonderfully cooked.
We would recommend Sykes House to anybody wanting a nice holiday in the Yorkshire Dales and the Village of Askrigg is a good starting point to get to anywhere in the Dales.
Thank you once again.
